Classic Bumrah Gift India a Win in His Comeback: India Won by the DLS Method
Ireland batted first, and they were battered by India’s ruthless bowling attack at the start, folding up and putting the batters in the wicket-bin, restricting them to a worrying 59/6. But Barry McCarthy was their man, and he lifted them up to a decent score (139/7), bagging 51* off 33 deliveries.
And, when India came to bat, openers did what they could, and India reached a score of 47/2 to witness another villain’s entry: The Rain. But as per Classic Bumrah Gift India a Win in His Comeback, as India were ahead of the required run rate, they were granted a 2-run victory by the DLS method.
India’s Pace Duo Startled Ireland
Both Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna were coming after an injury layoff. And both knocked wickets in their first over. Bumrah first took out the stumps of Andrew Balbirnie with a full ball and, in the same over, sent Lorcan Tucker’s ramp shot into Sanju Samson’s wicketkeeper gloves.
Krishna’s prey was Harry Tector, who also tried his luck on a ramp shot to end up in Tilak Varma’s hands. Soon after the powerplay, Krishna rose again, and this time it was George Dockrell who had the bad luck. He dreamed of a sixer, just to end up with Ruturaj Gaikwad at the cover and walk back to the pavilion.

Bishnoi Joined the ‘Double Pact’
When Bumrah and Krishna were taking a pause, Ravi Bishnoi entered the red carpet, to keep hunting down the Irish Batters. Between Krishna’s 2 wickets in the sixth over, he caused pain to Paul Stirling’s stumps with a lethal ‘googly attack’. Mark Adair and Curtis Campher tried to slowly rescue the score, but Bishnoi again interrupted the flow by trapping Adair’s leg. As per the Classic Bumrah Gift India a Win in His Comeback, the umpire’s primary decision went for the review, and it ended up in favor of Bishnoi, securing his second of the match to cut Ireland to 59/6 in the 11th over.
How did Ireland steer the ship?
Campher and Barry McCarthy partnered together and slowly started to lift the score. They both took Ireland’s score over a hundred after a 15-run showdown in the 17th over. Though Arshdeep hit back, taking Campher’s wicket, McCarthy was not ready to bow down. Despite Bumrah having a single run over at the 19th, McCarthy took Ireland into a safer place, ending the innings at 139/7.
Indian Openers Started Well
According to the Classic Bumrah Gift India a Win in His Comeback, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad started steadily, exploiting opportunities to run the scoreboard. And when the innings reached 24/0 in 4.3 overs, it began to drizzle in the stadium. India were behind the required run rate at that time. But both batters started to punish the Irish bowlers to par that limit.
Ireland came back to the match by taking the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma successively. But when the match was stopped at 6.5 overs, India was 2 runs ahead of the required run rate and bagged the match by the DLS method.
Score Summary
Ireland 139/7 in 20 overs (Barry McCarthy 51*, Curtis Campher 39; Ravi Bishnoi 2-23, Jasprit Bumrah 2-24, Prasidh Krishna 2-32) lost to India 47/2 in 6.5 overs (Yashasvi Jaiswal 24, Ruturaj Gaikwad 19*; Craig Young 2-2) by 2 runs (DLS Method)
