Carey Gets Out To Shreyas Iyer Incredible Throw: Australian Cricket Team batter Alex Carey scored a half-century and propelled his team to a respectable score against India in the first semifinal of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, his inning was ended by an incredible throw by India’s Shreyas Iyer.
The India vs Australia semifinal 1 of CT 2025 is being played in the Dubai International Stadium and saw the Aussies win the toss and decide to bat first. India finished first in Group A by defeating Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand. On the other hand, Australia finished second in Group B behind South Africa.

The Kangaroos opened their batting with Travis Head and youngster Cooper Connolly, who got out for a duck in the third over, falling victim to Mohammed Shami. Meanwhile, Head scored some quick runs, scoring 39 off 33 before being dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy.
While batters like Marnus Labuschagne and Josh Inglis faltered in the middle overs, captain Steve Smith scored 73 runs in 96 deliveries, anchoring the inning in the middle overs and helping his team go past the 200-run mark.
But this, too, would have been an under-par score on a pitch that is already hard to score on. At this point, Alex Carey took charge. First batting slowly alongside Smith, Carey picked up the pace after his skipper got out.
Carey got to his 50 and helped Australia go past 250. But before he could go into the fourth and fifth gears in the final few overs of the game, he got out when, taking a double where there wasn’t one, Alex was dismissed by a brilliant throw by Shreyas Iyer, sending Carey back to the pavilion.

Australia has since gone past 260, getting all out for 265, with Steve Smith and Alex Carey playing big roles in getting to this score, which is about par on this pitch, maybe a little over.
The Indian Cricket Team will have to chase their highest score against Australia in a 50-over game in an ICC tournament to win this match. The winner of this match will face either New Zealand or South Africa in the final and will be the favourite to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
