Cameron Green Shooed Away By Josh Hazelwood: Australia is hosting the West Indies in the 2nd Test of a two-match series between the two teams. The match being played at The Gabba, the home side has entered the match with a Covid-19-positive all-rounder Cameron Green in their side. We have now seen how his diagnosis affects his team.
The Aussies won match 1 of the series fairly comfortably by 10 wickets. Following that match, it was announced that Green was tested positive for Covid-19. While the threat posed by this disease has been nearly neutralized by vaccines and research, one would still not want to become a carrier and come into contact with others.
A simple solution for this without keeping him out of the game would be maintaining distance from Cameron Green on the field. That was showcased during the national anthems when the lanky allrounder stood a few feet away from his team.

The precaution taken the the Kangaroos was on display just a few overs into the match. As Josh Hazelwood took the first wicket of Kraig Brathwaite, the team ran up to him to celebrate. One of those who ran up was Green, who was promptly ‘shooed away’ by Hazelwood in what seemed like a playful tone.
This is not the first instance of an Australian taking the field while being Covid positive. Maa Renshaw famously played for the Baggy Greens in the SCG against South Africa in January 2023.
The first case of this happening was when Australian Women’s cricketer Tahila McGrath took to the field in the Gold Medal match at the 2022 Commonwealth Games against India while being positive.
