Bravo Spills the Secret Recipe of CSK Bowlers: Chennai Super Kings have been phenomenal with their bowling in this IPL when the batters have been ruthless to the bowlers across the tournament. Their bowling coach, Dwayne Bravo, now reveals the secret ingredients to their success.
Many of the IPL matches this season were a graveyard for the bowlers. Four of the five highest scores in history have been created this season. At this time, maintaining a good bowling record in the tournament is something that is to be discussed. And no one is better there to do that than CSK bowling coach Dwayne Bravo.
Bravo Spills the Secret Recipe of CSK Bowlers
Bravo said that CSK specifically makes every bowler train yorkers 12–14 times in each training session. According to him, every successful bowler in T20 cricket has tried to bowl as many yorkers as possible.
“One of the main reasons why bowlers struggle in T20s is that they don’t trust their ability to bowl Yorkers, so what we do in CSK is that each bowler has to bowl 12-14 Yorkers in each training session.”
“You can’t last long without a yorker. If you look at players, who have had most of the success in T20 cricket, Lasith Malinga, Bumrah, or Pathirana, when I played, we had a similar plan, try to bowl as many yorkers as possible.”
Bravo especially mentioned Pathirana, Mustafizur, and Tushar’s qualities. While he is impressed with Tushar, the veteran named Mustafizur’s slow balls as one of the best in the world.
He called Pathirana the ‘Baby Malinga’ and said that he doesn’t even need to coach these players.
“Pathirana is very special. I call him Baby Malinga. I also call him Baby Goat. He is not someone you try to coach because he has a natural ability and skill,”
“Fizz (Mustafizur) is also very special. He has a unique action. He has the reputation of having one of the best slower balls in the world. You don’t try to over-coach these players. You just empower them with knowledge, and information and try to keep it simple.”
“Tushar, I am very very impressed with him. Especially last season and also this season.”
