Brad Hogg Says GT Will Not Miss Hardik Pandya: Former Australian leg-spinner Brad Hogg believes that IPL’s defending runner-up Gujarat Titans will not miss their captain and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya too much. In fact, he reckons that the team is better off without him.
When the Titans came into existence for the 2022 IPL, Hardik Pandya was one of three players the team drafted before the auction. As a Gujarati cricketer who is a star player for the national side, Pandya was also named the team captain.
This move obviously paid off, as GT won their first-ever season of the IPL. They nearly completed a two-peat when they just missed out on a second IPL title, losing the 2023 final by a hair’s margin.
In their title-winning season, Hardik played a big role in the team’s success as he scored over 400 runs with an above-40 average and too 8 wickets.

“I don’t think Hardik Pandya is that big a loss really (for GT). Yes he is a quality All-rounder in the middle order, but they can cover it. They have got really good bowling depth there. He was batting in the top order but I don’t think he was best suited there so Gujarat Titans are better off without him.”
Following Pandya’s move to Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titnas named Shubman Gill as their new captain.
Hardik, who was named as MI’s new captain, was injured while playing for India in the 2023 Cricket World Cup. He is currently undergoing recovery and will likely be fir for the 2024 IPL season.
