Sanjay Manjrekar picks the Best Innings of T20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma’s blistering 42-ball 92 knocked Australia out of the tournament yesterday. His innings included punishing Mitchel Starc in the third over for 29 runs. The Hitman had hit 4 sixes and a four in that over. He also became the first player to hit 200 sixes in the T20 World Cup.

After the match, former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar picked the best knock of the 2024 T20 World Cup. He ignored Rohit and picked another man who played the same match, Travis Head. Head scored a terrific 46-ball 76, blowing the commentator away.
Sanjay was speaking on ESPNcricinfo.
“This could be arguably the best innings of the tournament. I know Rohit has played a blinder. But some of the shots that he played, there was one shot off Kuldeep Yadav and he hit one over long-off with a flat bat. Just the difficulty of the shots and with the pressure and knowing that he was one batter who was in and lot hinged on him. The kind of shots he played, he looks a really special player.”
“He’s a guy who’s played 160 first-class matches. Somewhere even in T20 cricket and 50-over cricket, you get to see that this is the guy who’s faced a lot of balls in his career. I just loved that innings and my respect for Travis Head while he was out there was growing.”
India, batting first, scored 205/5 in 20 overs. Australia fell short of 24 runs when 20 overs were bowled, losing 7 wickets. Head’s dismissal at the 17th over was the breakthrough in the match.
