Belal Mohammad Predicts Khamzat vs Whittaker at UFC 308
Belal was in conversation with an Australian MMA channel called Submission Radio. In the discussion, the champion from Palestine backed Kamzat Chimaev in winning the fight by taking down Whittakar and submitting him. Belal also pointed to the fact that Whittakar was taken down by the middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis, who seemingly has lesser wrestling skills than Khamzat.
“I’m just hoping that they make it a fight day, right? That’s one of those fights I can’t wait for it to come, and then to know that it’s a week away is huge. But for myself, I think I got Khamzat taking him down. I don’t know; I have him by submission. We’ve seen Whittaker get taken down by du Plessis with like a headlock, and Khamzat’s wrestling is so good. To see how dominant he has been with wrestling, I think he’s going to go in there and do the same exact thing to Whittaker.”
It’s the second time Robert Whittaker is scheduled to fight against Khamzat Chimaev. Earlier, the fight had been canceled as Khamzat pulled out due to injury. Then Ikram Aliskerov joined as a replacement on short notice, and Whittaker ended up sending him to the shadow realm.
Khamzat has maintained a perfect 13-0 record in MMA, but his recent health issues are claimed to hinder his chances of becoming the next big star in the middle east after Khabib Nurmagamedov. If Borz shows up to face Whittaker, Etihad Arena will have a stunner of a fight for the fans.
What’s Next for Belal Mohammad?
Belal Mohammad became the champion of the 175-pound weight division of the UFC by beating the then-champion Leon Edwards unanimously in UFC 304 in July. Now he will defend his belt for the first time against young rising prospect Shawkat Rashmanov in UFC 310 in December.
