Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers As it happened:
18 wickets fell in the match and 16 of them were caught as the pitch at the Carrara Oval had extra bounce and the ground dimensions were big, making six-hitting a very difficult task.
Brisbane captain Nathan McSweeney won the toss and elected to bowl first, and they started off well by dismissing Jack Edwards and Josh Philippe inside the first four overs. After that, though, Sydney skipper Moises Henriques and opener Daniel Hughes led a rebuild with their partnership of 94 runs in 67 balls, aided by a couple of dropped catches.
Sixers slipped after this stand was broken, going from 118/2 to managing only 152, which, still, would prove more than enough in the end. Michael Neser took three wickets, while Spencer Johnson and Paul Walter bagged a brace each.
In reply, Brisbane openers Josh Brown and Jimmy Peirson labored to a partnership of 36 runs in 40 balls, both striking under 110. Ben Dwarshuis broke that opening stand, and after that, the Sixers were all over the Heat. Any shot played in the air would almost inevitably find a Sixers fielder. The absence of Colin Munro, who has left for ILT20, was felt significantly by the Heat, who got bundled out for 113, with Dwarshuis taking a five-wicket haul.
BBL13-Heat vs Sixers Qualifier Report Man of the Match:
Sydney’s left-arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis was named Player of the Match in the Qualifier against Brisbane for his superb figures of 5/21.
