Babar Surpasses Kohli in Most T20I Runs: Babar Azam surpassed Virat Kohli to become the second most run-getter in T20I cricket. Only Rohit Sharma is ahead of the Pakistan cricketer.
Babar scored 41 runs in the third T20I against Australia, which made his total 4,192 runs. His record comes from 126 T20I innings with an average of 40.30. Virat, on the other hand, has a record of 4,188 runs from 125 innings at an average of 48.69. Virat has recently retired from the shortest format after winning the T20I World Cup 2024.
Babar Surpasses Kohli in Most T20I Runs, Only Behind Rohit
India’s 2024 T20I World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma leads the list with 4,231 runs from 159 games. Babar needs just 44 runs more to become the leading runscorer in T20I cricket. With Rohit Sharma being retired from the format, it will not take much time for the Pak player to beat the record.
Other batters who are behind Babar are Ireland’s Paul Stirling (3,655 runs), England’s Jos Buttler (3,389 runs), Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan (3,329 runs), Australia’s Glenn Maxwell (2,664 runs), and India’s Suryakumar Yadav (2,570 runs).
Babar’s record didn’t help Pakistan though, as the team lost the 3rd and final T20I by 7 wickets. Batting first, with the help of Babar’s 41, Pakistan scored 117 runs, which the Kangaroos went past in 11.2 overs by losing just 3 wickets.
With the win 3rd AUS vs PAK T20I, Australia completed their revenge for the ODI-series whitewash as they managed to do the same to Pakistan in the T20I series to bag it 3-0.
