Babar Azam Fails With Bat Again Ahead Of CT 2025: Star Pakistan Cricket Team batter Babar Azam has yet again failed to score big runs, as he got out for 29 runs against New Zealand in the final of the ongoing tri-series between the two nations and South Africa. He will now go into the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in poor form.
Babar Azam Fails With Bat Again Ahead Of CT 2025
In the first match of this competition, the Kiwis thrashed the home side, putting up 330 runs and winning by 78 runs. When New Zealand defeated South Africa in the second game and made their way into the final, the third and final league game between the Men in Green and the Proteas became a virtual semi-final.
In that game, Pakistan conceded 352 runs. To win the match, they would have to break their ODI chase record, which they did on the back of fantastic 100s by Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha.
Despite very different results in the two games, one thing that was common across both games for the Pakistan Cricket Team was the form of Babar Azam. In the first game against the BlackCaps, he only managed to score 10 runs in 23 deliveries. Then, against South Africa, while batters around him scored big and quick runs, Azam could only score 23 off 19.
So, when Pakistan came into the tri-series final against New Zealand, it became crucial for the team’s highest-rated batter to score some runs, seeing how this was the final match for this team just days before an ICC tournament at home.
But for the third time in a row, Babar failed to deliver for Pakistan. Despite getting a good start, he was softly dismissed via a caught and bowled by Nathan Smith for 29 off 34.
Pakistan themselves did not have the best outing with the bat in this final. On the same ground where they chased down 353 just a couple of days ago, this team faltered and was all out for 242.
This game will be the start of the first ICC tournament in Pakistan since 1996, the Champions Trophy 2025. The first match of that competition will be Pakistan vs New Zealand at Karachi’s National Stadium, so a rematch of the tri-series final on the same ground.
