Babar Azam Dropped For 2nd Test Vs England: Pakistan Cricket Team star-batter Babar Azam has been dropped from the squad for the second Test match to be played against England in the ongoing three-match series. This comes after his extended poor run.
The Pakistan vs England three-Test series will see its second match be played on October 15-19 in the Multan Cricket Stadium. This comes after the home team’s disappointing loss in the first Test by an inning and 47 runs.
In one of the most spectacular and upsetting losses in recent memory, the Men in Green batted first on the flat tracks of Multan and scored 556 runs as Abdullah Shafique, Salman Ali Agha, and captain Shan Masood scored 100s. In response, England put up 823 runs, the fourth-highest total in Test history and the highest of this century.
Joe Root scored 262 runs, becoming the highest run scorer for England in Test cricket. Meanwhile, Harry Brook scored the first triple-century of his career.
But shame was still to come. With four sessions left in the game, the chances of a result were slim to none. But Pakistan lost six wickets in the final session on Day Four. Pakistan trailed by about 180 runs with four wickets left on the final day. They couldn’t even reach that target, getting out for 220 and losing the match by an inning and 47 runs.

While the bowlers took a lot of blame for the loss, the batting collapse in the third inning was the true reason for this loss. One of the batters who not only failed in the third inning but also the whole match was Babar Azam. He scored a total of 35 runs in this otherwise high-scoring game. He also dropped an easy catch of Joe Root.
ESPNcricinfo has now reported that the newly formed selection committee of the Pakistan Cricket Team, which comprises Aaqib Javed, Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali, Aleem Dar, and Hassan Cheema, decided that it would be better if Babar stepped away from the team for the second Test. This came despite the star batter being backed by captain Shan Masood and Test team head coach Jason Gillespie.
Azam is in dismal form in Test cricket. Since the start of 2023, he has not scored a single half-century for Pakistan in the format. This run has now extended to 18 innings. His last 50-plus score came on the Boxing Day Test match against New Zealand in 2022, where he scored 161 runs in the first inning.
