Australia squad vs India T20Is series: In an unanticipated but not surprising move, the Australian selectors have decided to give rest to the six Australian players who featured in the World Cup 2023 and were also part of the squad in the ongoing 5-T20I series against India in India.
Steve Smith and Adam Zampa have already departed from India and will miss the third T20I on Tuesday in Guwahati, while four other players—Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Sean Abbott—will return to Australia tomorrow after Tuesday’s game. Of these, Steve Smith will be part of the home Test series against Pakistan next month.
Australia’s World Cup final star, Travis Head, who was rested from the first two T20Is, though, will remain in India to play in the rest of the series. With Smith leaving, Head is all but certain to play today, especially with the series on the line.

Wicket-keeper batter Josh Phillippe and opener Ben McDermott have reached India and joined the Australian squad in Guwahati. Left-arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis and uncapped off-spinner Chris Green will reach India ahead of the 4th T20I in Raipur.
Green is expected to make his T20I debut in this series as Australian selectors want to try out an off-spinning option heading into the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies. A T20 specialist, Chris Green has already featured in 190 T20 matches across various franchise leagues in the world but has yet to make his Australia debut.
