Australia Shines As India In Peril On Day Two: The Indian Cricket Team is five wickets down and trails by 29 runs against Australia at the end of Day Two of the ongoing second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Today was Day Two of the second of five Australia vs India Test matches. This game is being played at the Adelaide Oval and is a day/night match and thus is played with the pink ball. On Day One, India won the toss and decided to bat first. After they got out for 180, the Aussies came out to bat and ended the day at 86/1.

Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne started the day’s play. But only a few overs into the day, Jasprit Bumrah picked his second wicket, dismissing McSweeney for 39. Bumrah picked his third soon after, dismissing Steve Smith as the Kangaroos fell to 103/3 as the game hung in the balance.
The match tilted in the Aussies’ favour from this point, as Labuschagne and Travis Head nearly caught up to India’s score before Marnus became the first Test wicket of Nitish Kumar Reddy.
From here, batters struggled on one end of the pitch while Head dominated on the other. Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey batted for a little bit while Travis Head first scored a 50 and then reached a ton.
When Head finally got out to Mohammed Siraj, he had scored 140 runs off 141 balls and had taken Australia past the 300-run mark. He also exchanged a few heated words with Siraj while departing.

Mitchell Marsh and captain Pat Cummins batted for a bit, chugging the score along. By the time the defending World Test Champions were bowled out, they had scored 337 runs, giving them a 157-run lead in the first inning. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj took four wickets each, with the former being much more economical than the latter.
With about 20 or so overs left in the day’s play, India would have wanted to save their wickets while playing under the light, but that did not happen.
The first to fall was KL Rahul. At the team score of 12, the opener looked to pull a short ball by Cummins but ended up nicking it as it was caught by wicketkeeper Carey.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill then batted together for a few overs before Jaiswal edged the first ball of the ninth over by Scott Boland and was dismissed for 24 as in walked Virat Kohli. However, he was not long for the crease either, as in the 14th over by Boland, with him being on 11, Virat got out to his Achilles’ heel, a ball in the line of the 5/6th stump that he edged, 66/3.

Then came an absolute ripper. Gill, playing on 28, got out in the 17th over by a peach of a delivery by Mitchell Starc that swung in towards the wicket and dislodged the middle stump, 88/4.
And then, as a final garnish on a crap sandwich for India, captain Rohit Sharma was bowled by his captaincy counterpart Pat Cummins as the Men in Blue lost their fifth wicket at 105.
The day ended with Rishabh Pant (28 off 25) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (15 off 14) mounting a counter-offensive against Australia. The final score of the day was 128/5, with India trailing by 29 runs.
It is clear that this Day Two of the India vs Australia Test match belonged to the Aussies. It now remains to be seen whether the home team could build upon this advantage and even win on Day Three of the second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
