AUS vs OMN Match Highlights And Reports T20 WC: Australia kicked off their 2024 T20 World Cup campaign with a 39-run victory over Oman in Match 10 of the tournament.
The Group B fixture, which was played in the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, saw Oman win the toss and chose to bowl first.
To be fair to the associate nation, they had a strong display of their bowling in the powerplay, dismissing an in-form Travis Head in the third over. The score at the end of the powerplay for the Kangaroos was just 37/1.

Captain Mitchell Marsh lost his wicket soon after, immediately followed by a golden duck for Glenn Maxwell as the defending ODI World Champions fell to 50/3 in the ninth over.
But from this point, David Warner and Marcus Stoinis took charge and notched up a 102-run partnership. While Warner played a supporting role in this partnership with a decent but slow 56-run inning in 51 balls, Stoinis absolutely smashed the Omani bowlers around with a staggering 67-off-36 inning not-out.
Tim David played a quickfire 9-off-4 at the end to take Australia 164/5 at the end of 20 overs. While not the greatest Australian performance, this was an above-par score on this surface.
Even at this point, considering Australia anything but the absolute favorites to win would be a mistake.
That seemed to be the case at the start of the innings, as Oman lost three wickets in the powerplay for 29 runs. Three more wickets in the next 28 runs and seven overs meant the Asin nation was at 57/6 at the end of 13 overs.
But from here, Ayan Khan and Mehran Khan looked to take the team as near to the target as possible. Even after Ayan lost his wicket at the team score of 89, Oman kept chugging.
A team that looked like getting packed up under 100 reached 125 runs at the end of 20 overs.
For his 17-off-36 innings and three wickets while bowling, Marcus Stoinis was named the Player of the Match. This result has also pushed Australia above Oman to the top of Group B.
