Ashutosh Sharma Comments On His Great IPL Debut: Last night the fans witnessed the most thrilling contest in IPL 2024 so far as the Punjab Kings chased down the 200-run target set by Gujarat Titans in the last over on the backs of the team’s newest stars, Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh.
The Kings were 74/4 in the ninth over and had lost their whole top order in a 200-run chase. Following that, Sikandar Raza ate up a lot of balls, making it even tougher on the batters who were to follow him.
Shashank scored his first 50 in the IPL as he led the Punjab chase, but when vice-captain Jitesh Sharma was dismissed, the side still needed 50 runs in 27 balls with two relatively inexperienced IPL names on the pitch.

While Shashank had kept the chase alive till this moment, it was time for Impact player Ashutosh Sharma on his debut to keep the train rolling down the tracks. The 25-year-old scored 37-off-17 in his maiden IPL innings, practically ensuring the win for his side.
Ashutosh Sharma Comments On His Great IPL Debut
Following the impressive chase, IPL posted a video on their social media of the two PBKS heroes discussing the run-chase. In the clip, Ashutosh commented on the two batters’ mindset while on the field –
“I think neither of us panicked looking at the match situation. There was a sense of belief that until our partnership keeps going, we will get the job done. We even had a conversation like ‘Arey it’s just 24 runs in two overs; we will get it done comfortably,'” said Sharma
Ashutosh was talking about the moment when PBKS required 25 runs in the last two overs. Both he and Shashank hit Mohit Sharma for a six in that over as the Kings scored 18 runs in that over, seven required in the last.
While Ashutosh was dismissed on the first ball of the last over, a four by Shashank Singh brought the scores to level, and then a single concluded what was a nail-biting chase.
Following that win, Punjab Kings have four points in four matches in IPL 2024 and are currently fifth on the table. They will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next match on April 9 in Mullanpur, Mohali’s Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.
