Anushka Sharma Latest Post On Virat Kohli: Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma, wife of cricketing great Virat Kohli, captured the entire Test career of her husband in a few beautiful words on social media. This comes days after Virat retires from the longest format of the game.
Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 12. While the announcement didn’t entirely come out of the blue, as reports and rumours about it had emerged in the days before, it was certainly shocking for most people that the most experienced batter in the team retired a month before the most challenging tour for any batter, a Test tour to England.
The 36-year-old retired from Test cricket after playing 123 matches and 210 innings, in which he scored 9230 runs at an average of 46.85 with 30 centuries, 31 fifties, and seven double-tons. However, his legacy in Test cricket comes with his incredible record as captain.
As the captain of the Indian Cricket Team in red-ball cricket, Kohli played 68 games, winning 40 of them at a mighty winning percentage of 58.82. In his seven years of captaincy, not only did India not lose a single Test series at home, but the team lost only two matches at home in that span.
But with Virat’s retirement from Test cricket, the nation is reeling from the fact that the best player of a generation will not be playing in a format that many consider the peak of international cricket.
Anushka Sharma Latest Post On Virat Kohli Retirement
Anushka Sharma herself has made several posts across multiple social media platforms about Virat’s retirement. And while the entire sporting world has been writing words and making posts, it is a lot more special coming from the man’s wife herself.
Now, Sharma has posted a nice passage on her Instagram story. The passage comes from Bollywood writer and filmmaker Varun Grover’s post about Kohli’s retirement. Part of a multi-slide post, the slide Anushka shared read this:
“That’s why only those with a story to tell succeed in Test cricket. A story so long and deep that it doesn’t care for the pitch conditions – grass, dry, home, or away.” The same passage was written in Hindi as well.
Virat Kohli has now retired from Test cricket. This, coupled with his retirement from T20Is after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, means that he will now represent the Indian Cricket Team in only ODI cricket, which he intends to play until the 2027 ODI World Cup.
As for more recent appearances, Virat is still playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025. While RCB is second on the table, Virat himself has scored 505 runs in 11 matches at an average of over 63, which puts him fourth on the list for the Orange Cap list.
