This decision allows him to skip certain series and take breaks when needed without being obligated to play every international assignment. Cricket South Africa supported his decision.
For the 2025–26 domestic season, he has been signed by the Durban-based Dolphins to play in the CSA T20 Challenge. This marks his return to competitive cricket after recovering from a stress reaction that ruled him out of South Africa’s winter fixtures.
