Carlo Ancelotti Looks To Keep Young Talent At Club: Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has given his verdict on young star Arda Guler by rubbishing the claims about him leaving the club next season.
The 19-year-old Turkish attacking midfielder joined Los Blancos before this season from Fenerbahce. He rejected an offer from FC Barcelona to join their arch-rivals in the Spanish capital.
A product of Fenerbahce’s youth academy, Guler was considered an upcoming superstar in the world of football before his arrival in Spain. He has a lot of tricks in his bag and is a very flashy and eye-pleasing player, so much so that he was dubbed the ‘Turkish Messi’ by the media in his homeland.
But his time in Madrid has not been too fruitful so far. Before the season even started, Guler sustained a meniscus injury. He then suffered two muscle injuries during the season, which did not allow his career to take flight at his new club.
Because of that, the Turkish youngster has only played eight matches this season for a total of 99 minutes on the field. In these 99 minutes, he has scored two goals.
Guler scored his second goal of the season in Real Madrid’s most recent La Liga match against Real Sociedad. The 1-0 win saw Arda score in the 29th minute off an assist by Dani Carvajal.
This match also saw Real Madrid extend their lead in La Liga to 14 points over second-placed Barcelona while having played one extra match.

Following the contest, manager Ancelotti was questioned about Arda Guler’s future at Real Madrid, to which he had this to say:
“Arda will be a very important player for us in the future. There’s no doubt that he stays here next year. He has extraordinary quality. He has talent; he has a gift. He’s worked hard; he’s training very well, but he’s very young. Little by little, he’ll be more involved in this squad. He’s scored the most goals per minutes played; that’s the gift he has.”
Apart from a substantial lead in La Liga, Real Madrid is also in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. They will take on Bayern Munich in the first leg of the tie on May 1.
