Manchester United boss Eric ten Hag continues his woeful fate at Old Trafford as the club met two terrific losses in the initial three games of the English Premier League.
Manchester United are in the 14th position in the league table. Well, you may argue that it’s just 3 games into the league. And there are plenty of matches awaiting them to turn around the results. But what fans are scared of is if Ten Hag really turns the clock backward into the last season, where they finished 8th when all the matches were played.
This concern is backed by his team’s performance in the last three games. United started the league with a 1-0 win over Fulham. But if the next game with Brighton was embarrassing for them, the match that followed ended up being their nightmare. They lost to their archrivals Liverpool for 3 goals at the Old Trafford.
After this loss, many fans were already at the neck of Ten Hag, asking for his resignation. Some argued that if the Dutchman wouldn’t be able to turn around the results by Christmas, he might not be able to keep his job.
Alan Shearer Warns Eric Ten Hag of His Job
But former footballer Alan Shearer thinks a bit more extreme. According to him, Ten Hag’s future at United will be determined by the results of the next two games.
“United’s results will have to improve massively for Ten Hag to still be at the club at Christmas. A lot will depend on their next two results. After the defeat to Brighton and the manner of defeat to Liverpool, if the team doesn’t see a massive improvement in the next game or two then it will be really, really difficult for him because the noise will only get louder.”
Marcus Rashford’s form has been another concern for the Red Devils. Many question the coach’s decision to start him every match even though the Englishman has failed to score a goal since last March. Shearer thinks that Rashford should have left United this summer.
“Looking from the outside, for me, he should have left Man United to reignite his career because he’s gone very static for whatever reason, and it hasn’t worked for him for a while now.”
