The Aggression of Gambhir Is to Protect the Players: DK
Former cricketer and commentator Dinesh Karthik likes Gambhir’s aggressiveness. The wicketkeeper-batter backs the coach by saying that generally, the latter’s aggression comes out to protect the players.
“His aggression has generally come out in protection of his players and that is something the current lot of players will enjoy. Knowing him, he is not someone who gets angry for the heck of it. I’m sure he will have his turn with strong words for whoever it is required, and it is in his best interest to get the best out of the players.”
“He has been a part of numerous T20 tournaments. But this Test series will be completely new for him as a coach and it must be playing at the back of his mind. He is someone who has navigated through tough waters. He’s got the acumen to understand the pulse of the game, which is extremely important as a coach.”
India will face Bangladesh in a two-match and a 3-T20I series at home. The first Test begins on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram stadium, Chennai.
Gambhir led India to a 3-match T20I series and a 2-match ODI series against Sri Lanka after taking the position of the coach. Though India beat Sri Lanka 3-0 in the T20Is, the visitors got whitewashed in the one-day internationals.
