Abrar Afridi And Kamran Ghulam Join Pak Squad: Pakistan lost to Bangladesh for the first time in Test cricket in the first contest of the two-match series. Not only that, but the defeat came at home and was by 10 wickets after the home side declared in the first inning. Following the humiliating loss, the team has called up two players to the squad, those being leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed and batter Kamran Ghulam.
Pakistan Cricket Team’s loss to the Bangla Tigers will be one etched in history. For Bangladesh, it was their first win in the format against an Asian giant, while for Pakistan, it was a 10-wicket loss at home against a team they had never lost to.
The match was played in Rawalpindi, with the guests winning the toss and choosing to field first. The Men in Green notched up a score of 448/6 in the first inning before declaring as Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan scored massive tons. But in response, the Bangladesh Cricket Team scored a whopping 565 runs, as Mushfiqur Raheem scored 191.
The wicket has slowed down considerably by day 5, resulting in Pakistan getting all-out for 146. Shakib Al Hasan picked up three wickets, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took four. After a brilliant bowling performance, Bangladesh only needed 30 runs in the final inning, which they did without losing a wicket in just over six overs.
Abrar Afridi And Kamran Ghulam Join Pak Squad
After the disastrous loss, Pakistan have made a few additions to their squad, bringing back Adrar Ahmed and Kamran Ghulam. The two were removed from the squad for the first Test to play for Pakistan Shaheens in the four-day match against Bangladesh ‘A’ in Islamabad.
Abrar has played six Test matches for the national side and so far has been sensational. In six Tests so far, he has taken a whopping 38 wickets, with his best inning haul being 7/114. In the four matches he has played at home, he has taken 28 wickets.
Meanwhile, Ghulam is yet to make his debut for the national side but has been impressing while playing for Shaheen and in the domestic Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
The team missed these players, especially Abrar Ahmed, in the first match, where all-rounder Salman Ali Agha went for 0-136 in 41 overs in the second inning as he was left as the fifth ‘full-time’ bowler.
Also added to the squad is all-rounder Ahmed Jamal, but his inclusion is subject to fitness as he was initially removed from the squad due to a back injury. Shaheen Afridi, who left the squad following the first Test for the birth of his son, has rejoined the team as well.
The second and final Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test of this series will start on Friday, August 30, and will be played in the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
