India’s newest top-order batting sensation, Abhishek Sharma, has revealed the unexpected advice given to the under-19 team by Rahul Dravid, who was the coach of the side before a match in the 2018 U-19 World Cup.
Sharma has been a strong prospect for the national team for a few years now. He had a solid under-19 career, having led India to a win in the U-19 Asia Cup in 2016.
In the 2018 World Cup, Abhishek was an integral part of the squad, but he failed to perform well at the tournament. Despite his poor outing in the competition, India managed to win the whole thing under the captaincy of Prithvi Shaw.

The 23-year-old did score a fine 50 against Bangladesh in that tournament. In a recent interview, Sharma revealed what the then-coach of the team Dravid advised the youngsters before the quarterfinal and what he said to the team—no one would expect Dravid to tell someone to do.
In the 2018 U-19 Asia Cup before the World Cup, things had gotten heated between India and Bangladesh, with the Bangla Tigers sledging the Indian players.

So as India entered the quarterfinal in fine form, they once again faced Bangladesh. With the players concerned about facing abuse from the opposition, ‘The Wall’ gave an unexpected (for him) to the youngsters.
In a recent interview on the YouTube channel ‘Second Innings with Manjot Kalra’, Abhishek disclosed Rahul Dravid’s advice.
“When we faced them again in the World Cup, Rahul Dravid told us that if they abuse, you also give it back. Nobody expected him to say something like this. We are all very pumped up for that match,” said Sharma.
Abhishek Sharma has had a fantastic year so far. In the IPL, he had a spectacular campaign for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. As the team made it to the final, the all-rounder from Amritsar, Punjab, scored 484 runs in 16 games at a staggering strike rate of 204.22 and was one-half of arguably the greatest one-season opening partnership in IPL history alongside Travis Head.
Abhishek then made his debut for the Indian National Cricket Team in the five-T20I series against Zimbabwe, where he also scored his first international ton, which was also the fourth-fastest T20I century for India in just 46 deliveries.
