Chopra didn’t just predict; he gave a good reason to back his prediction. As the team wasn’t successful under the current leader, Faf du Plessis, RCB may look for a change. And Kohli, though not officially a captain, was seen guiding the side throughout the tournament.
“Virat Kohli is number one on my retention list. RCB need to keep him, and Virat also knows that he will be there. Virat might want to lead the team again, or else the franchise will have to look for a new leader,” he said.
Chopra thinks du Bengaluru might not retain du Plessis considering his age. He doesn’t see Glenn Maxwell and Alzarri Joseph wearing RCB shirts next season.
“Faf du Plessis is not getting younger. Glenn Maxwell, Alzarri Joseph, and Lockie Ferguson will also be allowed to leave,” Chopra added.
RCB had to bend their knee in front of Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator after having a historic 6-match win that took them all the way from the bottom of the table to the 4th to qualify for the playoffs.
