Aakash Chopra Compares PBKS Player To SKY: Former India opener and now commentator Aakash Chopra praises Panjab Kings’ Shashank Singh and compares him to team India star Suryakumar Yadav.
Shashank has been a revelation for the Kings this season. While this season was not the first rodeo for the 32-year-old in the IPL, this is the first time he caught the eye of the wider cricketing audience.
In 2024, the UP-borm batter scored 352 runs in 12 matches with an average of 58.67 and a strike rate of 168.42. He has been the best player on an otherwise disappointing PBKS team.

This is so much better than 2022 when he played 10 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad and scored only 69 runs.
Aakash Chopra, who can be heard commentating on IPL 2024 on JioCinema, made a prediction video for the Punjab Kings vs. the Rajasthan Royals game on his YouTube channel. While discussing players to look out for in this match, Chopra named Shashank.
“Which three players can we focus on? The first is Shashank Singh because he is a very good player and the focus is always on him. The way he is batting, there will be a time when you will consider him for the Indian team,” said Aakash.

The former cricketer then went on to highlight that Shashank is not a young player and reminds him of the Mumbai Indians and India attacking batter Suryakumar Yadav. Chopra said,
“He is not 22 or 25- years -old. He is a fairly senior guy in terms of age. He has that much domestic experience, and now he is just blooming. He reminds me a little of Suryakumar Yadav. His career also ascended similarly. So Shashank Singh is the first player.”
As stated above, Punjab Kings will take on Rajasthan Royals in their next game. Match 65 of IPL 2024 will be played on May 15 in Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium. The result of this game does not mean much for the Kings, who are already out of the race for the playoffs. PBKS is currently 10th on the table with just eight points in 12 matches.
