Aakash Chopra Backs Rachin Ravindra To Be CSK MVP: Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that it will be New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra who will have an excellent year for defending Champions Chennai Super Kings and will be the side’s MVP.
Despite winning IPL 2023, CSK made massive additions to their side in the auction for this season. From Shardul Thakur returning to the side to Daryl Mitchell becoming one of the costliest buys in the auction, to adding power to the pace battery with Mustafizur Rahman. But the most exciting buy of CSK was when the team bought Rachin for a bargain at Rs. 1.8 Crore.
Just before the auction, the 24-year-old had an impressive ODI World Cup campaign in India, where he scored over 500+ runs and was among the tournament’s top scorers.

With Chennai’s star-opener Devon Conway injured in a recent T20I series between New Zealand and Australia, he is likely to miss a significant chunk of the upcoming IPL. While Devon has been integral to CSK’s recent success, being the team’s highest run scorer in 2023, Ravindra was brought just as a replacement for Conway.
While Rachin Ravindra might find it difficult to replace Devon COnway’s 672 runs in 16 games and an above-50 average, the stage is set for the Indian-origin New Zealander to showcase his immense talents.
Aakash Chopra Backs Rachin Ravindra To Be CSK MVP
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra commented on how Rachin can step in in Conwy’s absence for CSK, citing his recent form in Tests –
“CSK will find a player to replace Devon Conway. Rachin Ravindra was kept as Conway’s backup. He batted well in the ICC World Cup and in Test series against South Africa and Australia. He is in sensational form,” he said.
Chopra then continued to say how the Kiwi might not have the best performances in the shortest format, but CSK as a franchise has the ability to bring the most out of their players, saying –
“He hasn’t been good in the shortest format but you know what happens when a player plays for Chennai Super Kings. He has all the skills to become their MVP in IPL 2024.”
Chennai Super Kings will kick off the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League when they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on March 22.
