On Wednesday, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) awarded honorary life membership to five Indians, including MS Dhoni, the former captain of India’s World Cup-winning team, and Yuvraj Singh, the Player of the Tournament in the 2011 ODI World Cup.
“We are thrilled to be able to announce our newest cohort of Honorary Life Members of MCC, as we prepare for the new international summer. The names that have been announced today are some of the greatest international players of modern times, and we are privileged to now count them as valued Members of our Club,” – said the MCC Chief Executive & Secretary, Guy Lavender.

MS Dhoni as one of the 5 Indian Cricket Team Members Awarded Honorary Award also As captain, Dhoni led India to victory in the T20 and ODI World Cups, as well as the 2013 Champions Trophy. The former wicket-keeper batsman played 538 international games across formats, scoring over 17,000 runs during his career.
Yuvraj Singh played a crucial role in India’s victories in the first T20 World Cup in 2007 and the home World Cup in 2011. In the 2007 tournament in South Africa, Yuvraj made a mark with his batting skills, scoring six sixes against England and a 30-ball-70 against Australia in the semifinals. In the 2011 World Cup, the left-handed batsman contributed with both the bat and the ball.

He played a crucial role in the quarterfinals by partnering with Yuvraj to knock out the defending champions with a crucial fifth-wicket partnership. Raina also made a vital contribution in the semifinals against Pakistan.
The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) recently honored former India women’s cricketers, including Mithali Raj, the former India captain, and Jhulan Goswami, the veteran pacer. Both players retired from international cricket in 2022 after India’s early exit from the ODI World Cup.
