3 SRH players to watch in the IPL 2024: For the fourth consecutive season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will have a new captain – Pat Cummins. The franchise would be hoping that Cummins would get them better results than what David Warner, Kane Williamson, and Aiden Markram did in the last three seasons.
Under Markram, SRH finished at the bottom of the 10-team points table last season, having managed only four wins in 14 games.
The 2016 champions have had troublesome times in recent years with continuous changes in the captaincy and coaching departments. After reaching the playoffs every season from 2016 to 2020, SRH finished 8th, 8th, and 10th in the last three tournaments.
This time, though, the expectations are high from the franchise because of some of the world-class talents they have on their teams.

Pat Cummins
The Sunrisers Hyderabad splurged a huge amount—INR 20.5 crore to be precise—at the IPL 2024 auction on Pat Cummins, making the Australian pacer the second-most expensive IPL player of all time.
This was shocking for those who knew that Cummins is an ordinary T20 bowler and way behind in terms of skills and success in the shortest format compared to the other two longer forms of the game. However, it wasn’t entirely surprising to everyone that SRH spent such a hefty amount on a guy who led Australia to the WTC title and the World Cup 2023 trophy in the same year.
Cummins is high on form and confidence, and SRH are banking on his proven leadership skills to take them to their second IPL trophy. Eyeballs will be on Cummins whenever SRH plays, as the pressure will be on him to justify only his heavy price tag.

Heinrich Klaasen
Heinrich Klaasen is perhaps the most destructive T20 middle-order batsman going around in the world right now. The South African has been in serious form over the past couple of years and is being hailed as the best spin-basher right now.
Since 2022, Klaasen has scored over 2000 T20 runs at a strike rate of 162 with 15 half-centuries. In this period, he smoked 131 sixes and 142 fours, which shows his utter penchant for hitting maximums. In the SA20 2024 season, Klaasen was the Man of the Tournament for scoring 447 runs at a huge strike rate of 207!
Umran Malik
After a breakthrough IPL 2022 season, when he grabbed everyone’s attention with his raw pace and took 22 wickets, Umran Malik suffered a downfall in IPL 2023, when he managed only 5 wickets in 8 games. The 24-year-old speedster from Jammu & Kashmir had an ordinary Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023/24, scalping 6 wickets in 7 outings. Umran would be keen to bounce back and make a case for national team selection.
