3 Reasons DC Lost To RCB IPL 2025: The Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated the Delhi Capitals by six wickets in Match 46 of the Indian Premier League 2025. The match was played on Sunday, April 27, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The Delhi Capitals could have risen to the top of the league table if they had won tonight. Instead, they now stand at fourth with six wins, 12 points, and a positive net run rate in nine games on the points table. So far, their six wins have come against LSG, SRH, CSK, RCB, RR, and LSG again. Meanwhile, their three losses have been against MI, GT, and now RCB.
As for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, they kicked their season off with a win over KKR, and then they won against CSK and another over MI. This was followed by a loss to DC and a win over RR. Then came a win and a loss in consecutive matches against PBKS. RCB then defeated RR once again and now beat DC in the reverse fixture. With seven wins, 14 points, and a decent net run rate in 10 matches, the Royal Challengers are on top of the league table.
Today, we will look back at three reasons why DC, who are one of the best teams in the league this season, lost this game at home.

3) Fine Show of Spin Bowling
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the toss and decided to bowl first, which was the correct decision on this sticky and moving pitch of Delhi. All in all, it was a fantastic bowling performance by the away team. However, the spinners did have a better outing than the pacers for Rajat Patidar’s team.
While it was the pace trio of Josh Hazelwood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Yash Dayal that took wickets in the powerplay and in the death, the tweaker duo of Sutash Sharma and Krunal Pandya created the panic in the middle overs that put a full stop on DC’s run scoring from the seventh to the 15th over.
Krunal Pandya, who was named the Player of the Match for his bowling and scoring a brilliant half-century with the bat, bowled a fantastic four-over spell of 1/28, giving runs away at the run rate of just seven.
Pandya bowled alongside Suyash, who did not take any wickets but was the most economical bowler of the match. His four-over spell saw the youngster give away only 22 runs at a run rate of 5.5. The two spinners, in their eight overs, took one wicket and conceded just 50 runs.

2) The Muddle In The Middle Overs
Due to some excellent bowling by the two RCB spinners, the Delhi Capitals could not keep the run rate they had in the powerplay into the middle overs. At the end of the powerplay, the home team’s score was 52/2. Despite losing two wickets, a lot of batting power was left in this side.
But then, over the next 10 overs, essentially the entirety of the middle overs, Suyash and Krunal combined to bowl eight wickets and concede eight runs. The two overs bowled by the pacers Hazelwood and Dayal in the middle overs saw them concede 18 runs and take one wicket. That means. In the 10 overs between the powerplay and the death overs, only 68 runs were scored.
Abhishek Porel was the fastest player for his team, scoring 28 off 11 in the powerplay. Karun Nair was dismissed cheaply in the first six too. Then, in the middle overs, the likes of Faf du Plessis (22 off 26), skipper Axar Patel (15 off 13), and KL Rahul (41 off 39) struggled massively, leaving too much to do for Tristan Stubbs and Vipraj Nigam in the death, which they did to take their team to a respectable total in this Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match.
1) The Kohli-Pandya Partnership
Despite what seemed to be a low score on a tricky pitch, the Capitals were able to take three quick wickets. Opener Jacob Bethell was dismissed for 12, Devdutt Padikkal was out for a duck, and captain Rajat Patidar scored just six before Karun Nair ran him out in fine fashion.
With the score 26/3 at the end of the fourth over, RCB needed their saviour, the man who has saved this team countless times in the past 18 years, none other than Virat Kohli. The former RCB captain partnered up with Krunal Pandya to mount a rescue operation.
The two batted together for the next 14 overs and scored 119 runs together. While Virat scored a slow and anchoring half-century, making 51 in 47 deliveries before getting out right before crossing the victory line, the elder Pandya brother’s innings was much more explosive, scoring 73 off 47 at a strike rate of 155.32. Krunal was also named the Player of the Match for his all-round performance as he stood not out at the crease at the end of the Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match.
