3 Players to Watch in Mumbai Indians-IPL: The Mumbai Indians were the franchise that made the biggest splash ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. The five-time champions traded in Hardik Pandya from the Gujarat Titans traded Cameron Green away to the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and appointed Pandya as their skipper, bringing an end to Rohit Sharma’s decade-long captaincy stint.
MI also traded in West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd from the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
3 Players to Watch in Mumbai Indians-IPL 2024 season:
Hardik Pandya
Every move and decision of Hardik Pandya in the IPL 2024 season will be put under the scanner. Pandya left Gujarat despite leading them to one IPL trophy and one runner-up position and replaced Rohit Sharma, who enjoys a following among the masses, as Mumbai’s new skipper.
The 30-year-old all-rounder has been brought back by MI not only as the long-term captaincy successor of Rohit but also with the desperation to deliver an IPL trophy instantly. Mumbai have not reached an IPL final in the last three seasons, and at the same time, the Chennai Super Kings, MI’s biggest rival, won two trophies. Pandya will also be making his return from an ankle injury that he sustained during the World Cup.

Nuwan Thushara
Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Thushara caught everyone’s attention when Mumbai Indians brought him for a hefty price of INR 4.8 crore in the auction. It was soon learned that Thushara has a similar slingy action to Lasith Malinga, who is back with MI as their bowling coach. Recently, he dismissed Jos Buttler and Jason Roy with pin-point yorkers during the SA20 competition in South Africa while playing for MI Cape Town.
MI would be hoping that Thushara would solve some of their bowling issues from the last two seasons.
Tim David
Australian power-hitter Tim David has recorded some solid numbers in his brief IPL career so far. In 24 innings, David averages 27 and, importantly, has a strike rate of 177. But he was struggling recently during the BBL 2023/24 season, averaging only 16 with a strike rate of 134. MI would want David to find his best form in the ILT20 tournament in the UAE before arriving in India for the IPL 2024. David is Mumbai’s best bet in the finisher’s role to carry forward the legacy of Kieron Pollard.
