Khawaja is the leading Test run-scorer in 2023. The left-handed Aussie opener scored 1210 runs in 24 innings at an average of 52 with 3 centuries and 6 fifties. Remaining under the limelight was Sri Lanka’s captain, Dimuth Karunaratne, who averaged 60 in 10 innings this year, notching up 2 hundreds and 3 fifties.

Middle-order: Kane Williamson (c), Joe Root, Travis Head
Despite dealing with a couple of injuries, Williamson had another big year in Test cricket. Williamson scored 695 runs in 13 innings at an average of 57, slamming 4 centuries, including one double hundred. Joe Root averaged an even better 65 with 2 hundreds and 5 half-centuries to his name.
Travis Head is in line to be the Player of the Year for his heroics across formats. He was the Man of the Match in the WTC Final vs India. Overall, Head whacked 919 Test runs in 2023.
Wicket-keeper: Lorcan Tucker
Ireland wicket-keeper Lorcan Tucker made it into this team over the likes of Bairstow and Blundell. Tucker averaged 43 across 8 innings, raising one century and one half-century.
All-Rounder: Ravindra Jadeja
Jadeja had a good year once again with both bat and ball. He’s the sixth-leading Test wicket-taker in 2023, taking 33 scalps at an average of 19. With the bat, he averaged 35 this year.
Bowlers: Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Stuart Broad, Nathan Lyon
Australia’s success this year was hinged on their bowling. Consequently, Starc (34 wickets), Cummins (37 wickets), and Lyon (top Test wicket-taker in 2023 with 47 wickets) make this team. The now-retired Stuart Broad went out on a high with 38 wickets in 8 Tests this year.
